Is caste genetic?

Might it be possible to determine caste through genetic testing, in the same way that aspects of ethnic heritage can be established through mitochondrial and Y-chromosome DNA analysis? If so, the consequences would be endless, and ranged from angry family scenes (‘Your parents said you were a Punjabi Khatri girl!’) to students who wished to come from a lower caste in order to qualify for admissions quotas (Kaun Banega OBC?).
